She was born on 1810 in England[1]. She died on 1855 in Newtown[1]. He married Mary Ann Long on 1859 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia[1].

 

Notes for Thomas George Blunt:

Thomas & Elizabeth Blunt arrived in Australia on board the ship "Fairlie". They had originally  departed from England to Hobart Town, but left there on 29/1/1837 to go to Sydney. They  arrived on 12/2/1837.

They had a son Edward Henry Blunt who was born about 1840.  Thomas died on 14/1/1876 after a severe bout of dysentry.

Elizabeth Blunt was born in 1876 at Glebe, NSW. She had two children,.. Oliver who died at  birth in 1892 and Winifred in 1894. She was unmarried at the time. In 1901 Elizabeth married  John Almond, a railway guard and they lived at East Lindfield. John and Elizabeth opened a  tea shop / restaurant in Manly.

Notes for John Almond:

John Almond was born in 1870 in Bermondsey England. He migrated to Australia when he  was 20 years of age and married Elizabeth Blunt in 1901 (aged 31 years). He was a railway  guard on the NSW Railways. He died of a Coronary Occlusion on 29 /1/ 1956 at Chatswood.

Notes for Winifred Gladys Blunt:

Winifred Gladys Blunt was born in 1894 in Sydney NSW. Her mother Elizabeth Blunt married  John Almond in 1901 and at that time her surname was changed to Almond. Winifred married  John Haverley Wray in 1910 at Milsons Point NSW, eight months after my mother Victoria  Winifred Wray was born on 8th Jan 1910. John and Winifred made their home at Chatswood   where they lived until their death.

Notes for John Haverly Dolph Wray:

My Grandfather John Haverly Dolph Wray, at an early stage of his life  and before his marriage to Winifred Gladys Almond (Blunt) changed his  name to John Haverly Adolphus Holmes-Wray - Reason still unknown.  Possibly because his father was on the stage and 'Wray' was a common  name, he may have adopted it as a 'stage-name'.

He lived at 20 York Rd Waterloo, London as per 1891 Census  In 1903 lived at 1 Cranbourn St, London  He also lived in South Africa (1903 -1907)

Arrived in Australia in 1907-1908 and lived at Pitt St, Milsons Point.  He was living there at the time of his marriage to Winifred Gladys Blunt (Almond)  They then moved to Chatswood where they lived out the rest of their lives.  Children of Winifred Gladys Blunt and John Haverly Dolph Wray are:

He was born on 27 Sep 1910 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia[1]. He died on 21 Aug 1982 in Tanilba Bay, New South Wales, Australia[1].

Notes for Victoria Winifred Wray:

Vicky was born in 1910. She was a hairdresser and during the Depression of the 1930's, she  kept her parents and siblings alive, having the only source of income in her family. She met  my  father Fred Burnell at a tennis club and later married in 1936. She was a loving mother  who gave birth to five children. The eldest was Winifred who died at birth. Vicky loved life and  would enjoy the simple things such as swimming, dancing, going to the movies and various  social events. Unfortunately, she developed Cancer in the 1950's and following several  operations she died in 1964. She didn't get the chance to see her grand-children grow  to  maturity and when she died, the family was devastated, ... a big hole was left in our lives. She  is still sadly missed.

Notes for Cyril Frederick Henry Burnell:

Cyril (or better known as 'Fred') was born in Hobart, Tasmania and came  to live in Sydney around mid-1920's. First at Bronte and then at Chatswood. It  was here that he came to know my mother Vicky Wray at a local tennis  club. They were married and moved to Marrickville, then to 43 West St,  Hurstville, then to East Lindfield, then to Crows Nest, then Willoughby,  then Dee Why. They had 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. The eldest  girl was Winifred who died at birth. Then came Roy, Beryl, Fred and  Jenny. My sister Beryl and I didn't see much of my Dad until 1945 when  the Second World War ended. He served in the Royal Australian Air Force  and was attached to No 2 Squadron in Darwin and Port Moresby. He was a  tail gunner and saw action. I remember him being wounded by several  pieces of shrapnell. Late 1945, we moved to Willoughby and dad worked  for Paramount Panel Beaters at Neutral Bay. A short time later he worked  at Hallstrom Refrigerators at Naremburn as a spray painter. I remember spending annual holidays at Moruya Heads on the NSW South Coast where we would camp,  fish and swim. They were good family times. In 1955, we moved to Dee Why and spent our teenage years near the beach. Fred worked  at the Manly Leagues Club and Palm Beach Golf Club as a Bar Manager.  When my mother died of cancer, it really shattered our family because we  were extremely close to her. Our mother would go without things herself  so that we would not miss out on the essentials. When Jenny married Reg  Clare, they stayed on at  the Dee Why house and eventually bought it from  my father. Later on they renovated the house completely. You wouldn't  recognise it. Fred moved to Tanilba Bay and lived a de-facto relationship with my Aunt Joyce, who had been divorced from my uncle  Roy. It was at Tanilba Bay that Fred suffered a heart attack and died on  21/8/1982. Fred loved Rugby League and most sports. He was Secretary to  the Manly Warringah Junior Rugby League for many years.

I was born in 1938 and grew up during the 2nd World War (1941-1945) with my mother and  sister Beryl, at Crows Nest. At the end of the War, when my father returned from the Air Force, we moved to Willoughby where I spent most of my childhood. I was one of those kids who  loved school and studied hard. My parents thought I would follow in my uncle's footsteps and become a Manual Arts  teacher like he did. I shocked them when I said I was quitting school in my 4th year of high  school, to join the National Bank.

I married Helen Millar, but the marriage lasted just two years.

I spent eight years with the Bank as a Teller, then left to work with the NRMA Insurance  Company.

I married Robyn Stearn and had three sons, Charlton, Shannon & Shayne.

After working 18 years with the NRMA I was then offerred an executive position with the  Phoenix Insurance Company. I stayed with them for 12 years and was medically discharged in  1992 with a pituitory brain tumor. After the operation, I started working from home doing  Network Marketing with Grace Cosmetics and Pro-Ma Performance products. I became  interested in family genealogy and have spent many years doing the necessary research.  I then became a Market Researcher which I found was quite enjoyable.

After 32 years of marriage Robyn and I were divorced, then on 24 Jan 2003 I moved to Redcliffe Qld  where I now live with my partner Stella Doney, a girl I had met 37 years earlier at the NRMA.  We are now extremely happy, we both love to travel to exotic places and are committed to  each other for the rest of our lives. On 5th January 2008 Stella and I were married at The  Golden Ox Restaurant at Margate Qld.

In 2006 I began working as a volunteer at the Redcliffe Museum which is very enjoyable and  gives me an opportunity to meet other people with similar interests.

Unfortunately, Jeffrey developed a rare disease and he died at the Prince  of Wales Hospital, Randwick at 8 years of age. His death really shattered our whole family, we  couldn't believe such a darling boy could be taken away like that. Fred and his family then  moved to Engadine. Fred spent most of his career in the Insurance industry, both as an employee of an insurance company and later as  an insurance broker. Fred now works as a Bar Manager for Combined Services Club at  Sutherland.
